Everyday life in the housing unit is safeguarded by a new-generation wireless personal security system.
The municipality of Savukoski has implemented the new-generation wireless SenioriTurva Iisi personal security system at the Saukoti 24-hour care housing unit. The system provides real-time updates on residents’ movements, allows scheduled alerts, and includes an integrated remote intercom that makes it easier to identify individuals and manage entry.
Jenni Ristiharju, a home care nurse and alarm system manager, is relieved: your help has proved invaluable. ”In the previous system, alarms could even come from an empty room,” Ristiharju regrets.” Now the alarm is more secure, especially when the carer is not around. If, for example, there is a change in the resident’s situation – for example, if the resident falls down alone in their room – an alarm is automatically sent directly to the carer’s phone, and the carer can immediately take the right action.”
Ristiharju explains that the rooms have motion sensors and door alarms near the beds, among other things. ”Carers receive an alarm on their mobile phone if a resident leaves their bed. If the resident does not return to their bed after an agreed delay, the carers are automatically alerted,” says Ristiharju.
Residents can also alert help independently from their safety bracelets.
”Alarms can also be timed, for example, for a daytime break or for the whole night. We listen to the residents’ wishes,” Ristiharju continues.
Jenni Ristiharju says that the carers at the Saukoti Home can now work safely at any time of the day.
”With the increased security, the workload has also decreased.”
According to Risti Harju, the new personal security system has been a quick learning curve. There are only a few function keys on the phone app. And if something unexpected happens, the support number is available 24/7.
The municipality of Savukoski purchased the system on a turnkey basis at a monthly cost of approximately 27 euros per resident. The solution was provided by Seniortek oy, a Rovaniemi-based Finnish developer, manufacturer and service provider of high-tech equipment.
