Liminka municipality renewed its rental booking system for the new decade

The need for a new facility booking system arose in Liminka when the municipality decided to improve sports services for residents. Another goal was to increase the utilisation rate of municipal sports facilities. With the help of Seniortek’s e-Spaces booking system, these objectives set by the municipality of Liminka were successfully achieved.

Liminka municipality has acquired the new Seniortek e-Spaces, which has been developed in cooperation with Schneider, Asio and the HAMK Smart research unit. The system includes automatically controlled electric locks, Schneider’s EcoStruxure system and Asio software. e-Spaces enables residents and municipal employees to easily reserve and use all sports facilities and meeting rooms in the municipality’s Lakeustalo. Janne Laamanen, Head of Liminka Sports Services, said that the installation and implementation of the system went well in general and it was launched in September 2021.

According to Pasi Nurmela, Managing Director of Seniortek, the e-Space booking system is easy to use:

”The customer can book their preferred sports room with their smartphone. The smartphone immediately shows the available free times for the desired sports facility. With the free downloadable smartphone e-Space app, the customer can easily open the door of the gym at the start of their shift.”

According to Laamanen, Head of Sports Services, the use of the e-Space application has been smooth, and users of sports facilities can now also be reliably identified. This reduces the need for maintenance of the sports facilities and makes their use safer for the customer. The versatility and flexibility of the e-Space system makes it easy for the municipality of Liminga to innovate and develop additional services for citizens using the sports facilities in the future. Mr Laamanen also mentioned that since the introduction of the e-Space booking system, the municipality has made immediate cost savings of around €200/month, which will increase as municipalities install the e-Space app on their smartphones and the old system is discontinued.
