KEHA Centre's Security App Mobile Solution - a forerunner in government administration

Easy to use

The deployment of the Security App mobile app and the browser-based Security Desktop app in May 2022 was effortless. A few features were enhanced and general safety instructions and messages have been introduced.

Some of the employees of the TE Office of Lapland, Kemi office, work in a separate Pointti shared service point with, among others, the employment services of the city of Kemi and various educational institutions.

”The mobile app is unobtrusive and easy to use for customers, who always have their phones with them. Customer situations can change quickly when the customer community is diverse,” says Seppo Marjamaa.

Marjamaa feels a sense of security just by having the app. The presence of a colleague calms the situation.

Safe environments

Sanna Kolomainen, Account Manager and Information Security Officer at the ELY Centre of Lapland, is a risk management professional.

”Our organisation operates in a challenging environment. Those who work in the field and in surveillance need different safety guidelines than those who work in real estate. Safety can only be learned through regular safety drills and information,” says Sanna Kolomainen.

Balance and anticipate

In the pilot, the versatility of use became concrete. A crisis team can be separately defined for the mobile app, which reaches out to management for use by field workers. The user experience is still in its early stages, but as it grows, the uses will be tailored to the needs.

KEHA Centre

The KEHA Centre is a national agency providing development and administrative services to the ELY Centres and TE Offices. KEHA is centralised in the development of knowledge and digital tools. The ELY Centres, TE Offices and KEHA organisations have a total of more than 150 offices and 31 independent agencies, with 7 600 internal and external employees who are users of the communication solution.

Three forms of communication were needed at the KEHA Centre

The KEHA Centre was looking for a solution for common security communication, taking into account the specific needs of different organisations.

1. Non-urgent communication

An easy-to-use communication publication site for existing safety rules and regulations and up-to-date safety information.

2. Urgent communication

Provides immediate and direct contact with workers and groups of workers in the event of sudden threats and incidents. Organizational or location-based reachability. Specific two-way safety communication.

3. Emergency communication (optional)

Obtain location independent emergency call functionality with positioning. The location information is not stored in the system, it is only activated when the alarm button is pressed. Especially suitable for field and field workers. Implementation depending on the location and method of use, either as a browser-based Safety Desktop app or as a mobile Safety App.

Solution providers BookIT and Minesec

The responsible supplier of the security application is BookIT. Minesec is responsible for the deployment training and in-service support.
